Auburn – Robotics: Microbits (Age 5-9)

Course Overview

Lego

Students will learn the fundamentals of Microbits robotics. It will include practical and theoretical knowledge of building a robot car.

  • Basic knowledge of programming
  • Students will familiar themselves with basic Mindstorms.
  • Practise writing programs with the movements of blocks.
  • Learn about debugging/ troubleshooting
  • Practice programming with touch sensor
  • Use loops to program repeated actions
  • Practice programming with switches, light or sound sensor.

Micro:bits

Students will learn the fundamentals of mechatronics. It will include practical and theoretical knowledge of building a robot car.

  • How all components of a mechatronics system connect and execute actions
  • Understanding the crucial components in the car and their functions
  • Individual work and teamwork
  • Gain an understanding of robotics and simple coding that happens behind the scene.

Course Materials

  • Students will receive robotics kits to take home and practice at home.
